Cell biologist, Dr Graeme Finlay, explains that the scientific understanding of evolution is based in overwhelming evidence, and that the evolutionary history that science has discovered is part of the creative work of God. (75 pages). “Truth counts. If the Christian proclamation is known to be erroneous in empirical matters, then who will give it any credibility in spiritual matters? If Christians have the reputation of believing fantasies about the physical world, they will be credited also with fantasies when they speak of God’s self-disclosure in Christ.”

About the author

Dr Graeme Finlay obtained his PhD in Cell Biology from the University of Auckland. He is a recently retired senior lecturer in Scientific Pathology in the Department of Molecular Medicine and Pathology at the University of Auckland and has worked on anti-cancer drug development for 20 years. As a Christian and a scientist Graeme is devoted to both and sees in them a natural compatibility. He writes out of a concern that suspicion of science and the evolutionary process is harmful to the Christian cause. His other publication include: The Gospel according to Dawkins (London: Austin Macauley, 2017); Human Evolution: Genes, Genealogies and Phylogenies (CUP, 2013); and contributions to approximately 100 articles on anti-cancer drug development. Graeme is a Fellow of the International Society of Science and Religion.
